In this workshop, we are going to focus on opening our hearts (chest) and shoulders.

Heart opening, or Chest Opening, is such a powerful series of poses that has a ripple effect from every individual and everyone they connect with. Not only does it improve your posture, it also has the power to positively affect the way you see yourself and the world around you.

Improve Posture

Physically, chest openers can combat our collapsed shoulders and hunched spine. This is especially helpful for those who sit at a desk all day and work or have long commutes. Through yoga poses, we extend, expand, lift, and add more mobility and space to the chest. We encourage more circulation of blood, oxygen, and prana through the area.

Clear the Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra, located at the center of the chest, is tied to love, balance, intimacy, and compassion. A blocked Heart Chakra can present negative feelings and emotions. When we open our hearts, we feel love, compassion and kindness. We allow ourselves to be open and free. Free to be happy, free to exist. We show the world our light and our love.

Increase Energy

A lot of heart openers are associated with backbends. By stretching the back, it stimulates blood flow throughout the body and help to awaken the nervous system. The combination of increasing blood flow and energizing the nervous system leads to a natural boost in your physical energy.
